Financial Copywriting for RIAs

Words that attract the clients you want

What if you had a salesperson working for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  One who never called in sick, never had an off day, and always knew exactly what to say to the right prospect at the right moment? That’s what great financial copywriting for RIAs can do for you.

And unlike a full-time hire, you invest a small amount…once. Then it works for you for years.

What Does a Financial Copywriter Do for an RIA?

A financial copywriter translates everything that makes your practice exceptional — your process, your philosophy, your client focus — into language that resonates with the exact people you want to serve.

For RIAs specifically, that means copy that builds trust fast, speaks to the real concerns of your target market, and moves prospects toward a conversation with you.

Does Financial Copywriting Help Your RIA Rank on Google and AI Search?

Absolutely. And for RIAs, this is becoming more important by the day. When a prospective client types “fee-only financial advisor in [your city]” or asks an AI tool like ChatGPT or Perplexity who the best RIA is in their area, what comes back is driven almost entirely by the quality, credibility, and structure of your website content.

Google’s current ranking standards reward what’s called E-E-A-T — Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. For RIAs, that’s actually good news. Your credentials, your client focus, your fiduciary commitment, and your years of experience are exactly what Google is looking for. The problem is that most RIA websites never communicate any of that clearly enough for Google or a prospective client to recognize it.

Well-structured financial copywriting fixes that. It signals credibility to search engines, answers the specific questions your prospects are already typing, and positions your firm as the authoritative voice in your niche.  Whether someone finds you through Google, through an AI tool, or through a referral who looked you up before calling, they will see your firm in its best light with carefully worded copywriting.

At Wavelength, we write every page with both your human reader and search visibility in mind. Because the best copy does both jobs at once.

How Does Financial copywriting for rIAs work?

Working with Wavelength is simple and collaborative. We’ve designed our process to require minimal time on your end while ensuring the final product captures your firm’s unique voice and strengths. Here’s how it works:

Financial copywriting process: questionnaire, interview, collaborative drafting, and unlimited revisions

Why RIAs Face a Unique Copywriting Challenge

Most generalist copywriters can write great content for a variety of topics, but RIA marketing is a different animal.

You’re not selling a discrete product or service. You’re asking someone to trust you with their financial future. That requires copy that does something much harder than simply sounding good…it has to build trust with a skeptical reader who has probably been pitched a dozen times before.

And then there’s compliance. General copywriters don’t know the many regulations and constraints that are part of the RIA landscape.  Hand your website copy to a general copywriter and you could end up with content your compliance department rips apart, leaving you having to deal with multiple versions.

That’s where Wavelength is different. Our founder formerly held a Series 24 license, as well as 7 and 63, the same credentials your own compliance principal carries. We understand compliance and write for it.  You don’t need to teach us anything.  We write compelling, emotionally engaging copy that’s built with compliance in mind from the very first sentence, not patched up at the end.

On top of that, you’re navigating a landscape that most everyday copywriters know nothing about. For example, the distinction between RIAs, broker-dealers and the various fee models. On a more practical level, they probably don’t know how high-net-worth prospects choose their advisors.

Further, the cost of getting it wrong isn’t just a mediocre website. It’s prospects who visit, feel nothing, and leave.

What Good Financial Copywriting Does for Your RIA

The right copy for an RIA practice does four specific things:

It speaks to your ideal client’s actual fears and goals

Not your firm’s credentials. The affluent investor visiting your site isn’t there to admire your pedigree. They’re wondering: Can this firm actually help me? Will I be more than just an account number here? What happens to my money if something changes? Your copy has to answer those questions before they’re even asked.

It clearly communicates what makes your firm different

In language a client would use, not a compliance manual. If your differentiator is a truly customized investment approach, comprehensive planning, or deep expertise in a specific niche like business owners or retirees, that story needs to come through in the first scroll.

It guides visitors toward action

And doesn’t try to do ten things at once. The best RIA websites have clear calls to action. Getting there requires copy architecture, not just nice-sounding sentences.

It holds up under compliance review

Without losing its emotional punch. This is where so many RIA marketing efforts fall apart. Firms either write bold copy that compliance flags, or they water it down until it says nothing. Good RIA copywriting threads that needle from the start

See It in Action: RIA Copywriting Examples

Sometimes the best way to understand what great RIA copy looks like is to see it. Here are two examples of Wavelength’s work for independent advisory firms:

Heritage Capital.   Heritage Capital’s digital marketing agency brought Wavelength in as their copywriting specialist for a full website rebuild. We worked directly with the firm’s founder to communicate their unique edge and philosophy, then translated that into headlines and copy designed to do one thing: turn the right visitors into conversations. The result was a site that spoke clearly to Heritage’s ideal client and gave them a real reason to reach out.

Scarborough Capital Management.  Scarborough Capital Management is a registered investment advisor managing over $1.3 billion in client assets. Their digital marketing agency brought Wavelength in as content specialist to develop copy that set them apart from competing RIAs and spoke directly to their ideal clients. We delivered full website copywriting including headline development, giving Scarborough a tool to attract and convert the right prospects.

Why Wavelength Understands the RIA Business

Wavelength Financial Content has worked with over 120 independent RIAs — boutique practices, multi-advisor firms, niche specialists, and regional leaders. We’ve also served Fortune 500 financial brands, which means we understand both the enterprise landscape and the independent advisor’s world.

Our founder previously held Series 24, 7, and 63 licenses. That matters because it means we’re not learning your industry from scratch. We already understand the difference between an RIA and a broker-dealer, why fiduciary matters to your marketing, and what your clients are worried about when they start looking for a new advisor.

We don’t write generic financial copy. We write your story in a way that resonates with the specific clients you’re trying to reach.

Here’s what some of our RIA clients have said:

“Wavelength has proven itself when it comes to creating engaging content that not only educates, but also inspires my visitors to take action without sales tactics. “

“The Wavelength team is very knowledgeable and it shows in every aspect of working with them. The work was well researched, well written and required no revisions.”

What We Create for RIAs

We work with RIAs on a full range of copywriting and content needs:

Website copy — from the homepage headline to the about page and service descriptions. We start with your differentiators, your ideal client, and your voice, then build copy that holds a visitor’s attention and moves them toward a conversation.

Blog content and articles — educational content that positions you as a trusted voice in your niche and supports your SEO strategy.

Email campaigns — for prospect nurturing, client communications, and referral outreach.

eBooks and whitepapers — lead generation tools that build credibility and keep your firm top of mind.

Ghostwritten articles — for Forbes, industry publications, or your own LinkedIn presence. We’ve placed content on Forbes.com, CNBC.com, Yahoo! Finance, and Nasdaq.com.

Financial advisor books — for advisors who want the ultimate credibility builder and client differentiation tool.

What Does Financial Copywriting for RIAs Cost?

Unliked many firms that charge large retainers, we keep our pricing accessible because we believe good copy shouldn’t be reserved for firms with massive marketing budgets.

Basic website copywriting packages start at $1,200 for most RIA firms, depending on the number of pages. We charge flat fees — no hourly billing, no surprise invoices, and revisions are included until you’re happy with the result. Additional content services like blog articles, eBooks, and ghostwriting are priced separately.

Frequently Asked Questions About RIA Copywriting

What makes RIA copywriting different from general financial copywriting?

RIA marketing carries a unique requirement to build trust and credibility.   Your prospects are often  individuals who might think they are best served by the big brand names.  Or they may have an advisor now that they’re not happy with, so are looking for options.

Copy for an RIA has to work harder to build credibility.  And we have to do that within compliance boundaries. That requires both knowledge of the concerns of these investors as well as real copywriting craft.

Do you understand compliance requirements for RIA marketing?

Yes. Our founder previously held a Series 24 license, meaning we approach RIA copywriting with compliance awareness from the start. We understand how and why to avoid  promissory language, unsubstantiated performance claims, or anything that would give your compliance department heartburn. That said, we don’t provide actual compliance reviews and compliance officers vary, so we always recommend your compliance team do a final review.

How long does the copywriting process take?

For a standard RIA website project, the process typically takes three to five weeks from our initial kickoff to delivery of final copy.  Bigger projects may take longer. We start with a detailed questionnaire about your firm, your clients, and your differentiators, then schedule a time to discuss with you.  Once we have your input, we go to work. Revisions are included in the flat fee.

Can you match my firm’s existing tone and voice?

Absolutely. If you have existing content you love, share it with us and we’ll use it as a benchmark. If you’re starting fresh, we’ll develop your voice through the discovery process. Either way, the goal is copy that sounds like you — just more compelling.

Do you ghostwrite for RIA principals?

Yes. Many of our RIA clients use us to ghostwrite articles, LinkedIn content, and even financial advisor books (full books authored under their name). All work is 100% yours — you claim full authorship and may use it however you like.

Do you write copy for RIA websites built on template platforms?

Yes. Many RIAs use template-based platforms. The challenge with templates is that the copy is often on the generic side. We write custom copy that plugs into your existing template but sounds completely unique to your firm, giving you the best of both worlds.

Will my copy be optimized for search engines and AI tools?

Absolutely. Every page we deliver is written with both Google (SEO) and AI search (AEO) in mind. That means natural keyword integration, clear heading structure, and FAQ sections designed to appear as featured snippets and AI answers. We never sacrifice readability for SEO — the copy has to connect with humans first — but the copy will work to coordinate both.
